A New Design?
Judging by the positive growth of Homepage Startup, I believe it’s about time to get a change of design. I’m generally a programmer so my designing skills are pretty awful; you can call the current design of Homepage Startup my best effort :P. This being the case, I decided to give the big boys a call — who is my good friend Aky (a-key). Aky can be described as another one of those web designers; flash/photoshop/mspaint etc junkie.
Aky gave Homepage Startup a shot and produced a layout for it. You can view his design at:

I haven’t put this design up on the main page yet. I would like feedback from you guys before I go ahead and make it public. Let me know your views on this design, negative feedbacks are welcome (Aky wouldn’t be offended by it). I can make changes to the design however you like.
I hope to make this design as one of the *themes*, and hopefully to get more themes in the future. If you would like to submit your own theme/design then go ahead and email it to (info [AT] homepagestartup.com). Credits will be given ;).
Some More Features
I’m just posting a quick update on Homepage Startup. A couple of features have been added since my last blog post.
The first new feature is definitely the second most requested after accounts. It is the ability to set more than twelve square boxes. I’ve added this settings on “Customize” after you have created an account and logged in. You will get an option to set the number of rows/columns you want — the maximum you can have is twenty-five boxes.
The second feature was something that popped in my head as I asked a friend of mine what website he has set on Homepage Startup; I thought ‘why not give an extra page to each user displaying their homepage in a read-only environment’ (I’m sure somebody suggested this
). This way, rather than my friend telling me what websites he has, he can easily give me his personal read-only homepage which will save much more time.
If you’re after this feature, here’s how to get it. You need to create an account first (Just click “Register” at the top of the page), then you will have your own personal page set automatically for you:
http://<your-username>.homepagestartup.com
This page is solely for your Homepage only, so share it all you want. If you want this page removed, this go through “Customize” after you’ve logged in and choose “Set My Homepage Private”.
More features to come soon … ![]()
Share! Share! and .. Grow :)
I’ve created a new page at Homepage Startup called “Share Homepage Startup”. You
can see the link to this at the bottom of the main page, a small “Share” is there. In brief terms, the page explains how you can spread the word of HS to grow bigger and better.
Here is the link to the page: http://www.homepagestartup.com/share_homepagestartup.html
I’ve put the page up just less than six hours of this blog post, and so far I’ve had a great response. The loyal people (that’s you
) of HS have already submitted it to bookmarking networks, their personal websites and their blogs. Although some I couldn’t understand due to the foreign language I yet appreciate every last effort to spread the word.
That’s pretty much all I wanted to cover in this post. I would like to ask those who haven’t participated to make the smallest effort if possible. I am thankful to all my visitors.
Have a nice day ![]()
Login Logout Feature

Today I’ve worked on probably the most requested feature; an account system. You must have noticed the small login/register link located at top right of the page by now. You should be able to create an account and log in quite easily without any problems using these links.
Once you log into your account, the page will change instantly to your account’s style. Whatever websites you have or whatever positions you’ve set will load directly from that account. When you make changes to your Homepage Startup, the changes will save onto the account which you can access on another computer should you need to.
I would like to add in the future a tab style where you can save multiple homepages and access each homepage with a single click. For instance, you can have a selection of game websites and call that homepage “Game Time” or have a range of Information websites and name that tab alone. When you visit HS again, you can get a small link allowing you to change between different homepages instantly. This way you will have the best of each genre (technology/news/games/information etc) directly at your fingertips.
If you have any specific requests on features, please post a comment on this blog and I’ll add your request on the to-do list. Thanks to all the current users and hope to improve more and better.
Homepage Startup Launched
Hi & Welcome to Homepage Startup’s (HS) New Blog
You may have already saw HS’s website but if you haven’t then let me give you a quick introduction before you shoot off to see it. The website consists of a search box at the top of the page followed by twelve square boxes. Each boxes can be assigned a unique website which will be saved for you to view later. The idea is to set HS as your default browser page so next time you open your browser, the regular visited websites will be right there for easy access.
I’ve added a number of features already and thanks to the quick growth of the website, I’ve had many feature requests by fellow HS members :). I hope to expand this new idea into something large and as for my considerate visitors, we shall do it together ;).
The website was launched on 17th August 2007. I’ve opened this blog just two days after. I’ll be posting updates about HS on this blog so remember to keep yourself updated. That is it for now — remember to comment on my blog posts and to submit your ideas wherever possible.
Thank You.
