The Latest at Homepage Startup

It’s been just over a month since Homepage Startup (HS) was launched so I’ve decided to make a blog post regarding the latest on HS.

If you’re not yet aware of what HS is; it is an easy-to-set website that allows you to save up to twelve (or more) websites for quick access. Once you’ve set your websites, you simply set HS as your start-up page. Then, whenever you need to visit your saved websites, you just open your browser and voilá. HS has additional features included such as Tabs to categorize your bookmarks and the ability to share your homepage with friends and family.

Since the launch date, Homepage Startup has managed to gather a little over 2,000 regular members. An estimated 1,000 continue using Homepage Startup without membership. A total of 20,125 websites have been saved over 367 different tabs. I have taken the liberty to generate graphs for our fellow readers to view. The first graph is for the top ten saved websites while the second displays top ten tab names.

YouTube is resting at most popular then MySpace, FaceBook, Gmail, Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, and eBay followed by Digg who holds the ninth position leaving Yahoo! Mail has tenth popular. According to the most popular tab name, I believe Digg should be most popular as News tab is very frequent :).

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the users once again for using Homepage Startup. Another thing I would like to say is that I have received a number of messages asking how do I profit from this website and the answer is I don’t. I can’t think of any ways to make revenue off a website like this other than charging users which I don’t intend to do. Maybe I’ll start a donation page or something ;).

Here are the graphs:

Organize your Homepage using Tabs

The long-awaited feature is here! I’ve received much too many messages asking to get this feature made and I’ve taken the time to make it. What am I talking about? Tabs ;)

For those who are not aware of tabs, they are simply additional pages with extra boxes on them to save more websites. The purpose of a tab is to help the user sort their websites efficiently in “categories”. You can create a tab then give that tab a name. For instance, you can create a tab called “Games” and save all your game-related websites on that tab. This feature will become very useful to web surfers who have dozens of websites saved.

To enable the tabs, you will to register for an account. Just click the “register” link located at the top right of the page. After registration, log in and you will thereafter have access to tabs. Adding tabs are pretty straightforward - click ‘add a tab’, enter your tab name and press the enter key (or click elsewhere on the website). Your new tab will be presented next to “Main Websites”. Click on the new tab and begin adding your websites.

I hope you make the most of this feature ;) Any feedbacks are appreciated.
